...but that's what they'd like you to believe, going by the way the biotech corporations and GM industry contracted scientists spin it out at us.

But like sex, they affect everyone and
everything in one way or another, sooner or later. What’s disconcerting is that you’ve probably missed your virgin moment without even realising it - since you, your family and your animals have probably been having an intimate GMO relationship for some time now - they just neglected to tell you. Or ask you. Or give you a choice to opt out if you're not interested. Or protect what you're interested in from GMO intrusion.
OTHER THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW
After I began researching GMOs several years ago, my ignorance of the agricultural and food world became exposed when I started to learn about nanotechnology, food irradiation, the corporate gobbling up of small farmers, contemporary conventional ( non-organic) farm practices in general, agricultural sciences and agricultural policy, that have all been occurring and developing virtually unnoticed, unquestioned and untethered for the most part, by the major community.
I also discovered that there are new agri-biological techniques that have outdated and superceded the GM technology ( observations supported by biotech industry folk ).
But this has made no difference to the all devouring GM machine in
its efforts at world food market control and ownership.

Health Issues - studies indicating potential issues
for people, animals, wildlife, soil
Contamination Issues - the GM genes spreading into the same & different crops & species
The Science - Genetics is a relatively young, still
infantile science; studies are also insufficient &
inappropriate, not independent; independent study
requests inhibited. A number of vested interest
sponsored studies presented by the biotech
companies have been scrutinised and assessed
by independent scientists in an
unfavourable and highly critical light.
Food regulation bodies rely on the biotech
company scientific submissions for their
assessment.
Climate Change - not as climate friendly as organic.
Organic has a much smaller carbon footprint.
Increased Herbicide Use - Proven to increase
herbicide use, weed resistance to the biotech
owned Round Up. Insect resistance to Bt
crops ( Bt is an insect pesticide gene inserted in
some crops ). ( Diminishing ) Fossil fuel and ( also
diminishing ) phosphate sources based
industrial farming.
Labelling - insufficient for consumers ( and their
animals ). People everywhere have a right to know
what's in the food they eat, and are feeding
their families and animals.
Loss of Choice - due to contamination,
for farmers and consumers ( see also 'labelling' ) Pharmaceuticals, vaccines & industrial
components in crops -'pharma' crops
contaminating similar crops and
wildlife issues
Loss of Biodiversity -GM farming is monocultural farming. Issues with soil health and ecology.
Food Sovereignty - who should own our food ?
A genetically modified plant means that
that plant ( the wholeplant ) is owned by the
patent holder of that GM gene.
Political & Corporate Disregard -yet again. Polls
everywhere indicate communities do not want GM
foods or crops. Complete disregard for the

AN EXAMPLE of the
'SUBSTANTIALLY EQUIVALENT'
GM BANANA ( article to be completed )
" On May 26, 1992, the FDA declares that it has
determined that genetically modified foods are
'substantially equivalent' to conventionally grown
foods and therefore will not be subject to any special regulations." Read more here (not linked yet )
And these are the organisms from which the
inserted genes in the GM Banana, which began
testing at the Queensland University of
Technology in mid 2008, are sourced :
a nematode ( a soil living roundworm), a glow in the
dark jellyfish, a strain of E.Coli and a soil bacterium

The FDA justified it's position saying that assessments
concerning the safety of food products should be based on
the characteristic of the food product, and not on the
method used to develop the product.
